A woman poured her drink over her ex-boyfriend's head and then glassed him in the face during a busy bar altercation.Roisin Hannon, from Siloh Crescent, Landore, Swansea, had confronted her former partner about money she claimed he owed her.
According to court reports, she threatened to burn his house down if he did not pay her before escalating the situation.
She first poured her drink over his head, then pulled back her arm and struck him with a glass with considerable force, causing the victim to suffer significant injuries including a gash requiring medical treatment.
The victim was taken to hospital where medics treated a wound near his hairline that caused arterial bleeding, which needed to be cauterised and sutured.
The incident was witnessed by others and police were called to the scene; Hannon was arrested at the scene.
In her court hearing, she pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.
She has four previous convictions for six offenses, including Class B drug trafficking, shoplifting, dangerous dog ownership, and drink-driving.
The judge sentenced her to two years and two months in prison, with the possibility of serving up to half before release on license.
The court noted that such glassing attacks could result in losing an eye and suggested that jealousy might have played a role in her actions.
