ROGER FOSTER FROM BEDFORD SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE AND INDECENT IMAGES

Roger Foster, a man residing in Bedford, has been convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses involving a young victim. The allegations against him include making sexual comments and sending inappropriate text messages to the victim when she was still a child, marking the beginning of a disturbing pattern of abuse that spanned several years.

Following a thorough investigation conducted by Bedfordshire Police’s Protecting Vulnerable People team, Foster was charged and subsequently found guilty of three counts of rape, one count of engaging in sexual activity with a child, and one count of creating indecent images of children. The court proceedings revealed the extent of Foster’s misconduct and the impact it has had on the victim’s life.

The victim, who demonstrated remarkable bravery by coming forward and sharing her experience, provided a heartfelt impact statement during the sentencing. She described the profound psychological toll the abuse has taken on her, stating, “I have been left with crippling anxiety. I struggle to sleep due to night terrors every night where I dream that I am back there reliving the abuse.” Her words underscored the lasting trauma inflicted by Foster’s actions.

Foster, who lives on Laxton Way in Bedford, was sentenced on Tuesday, 20 May, at Luton Crown Court. The court handed down a substantial prison term of 15 years for his crimes, along with an additional seven years on an extended licence period, ensuring close supervision upon his release. Furthermore, Foster is now subject to a comprehensive sexual harm prevention order, designed to restrict his activities and prevent further offenses. A restraining order has also been issued against him, prohibiting any contact with the victim until further notice, in an effort to protect her from any potential harm.

These measures reflect the seriousness with which the justice system treats crimes of this nature and the commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals from predators like Foster.
