MAN WHO THREATENED TO RELEASE VIDEO OF WOMAN IN THE SHOWER JAILED FOR BLACKMAIL
A Bedford man, Alaur Rahman, 29, has been sentenced after threatening to release an illicit video of a woman in the shower unless she paid him £2,000.
Rahman used several phones to harass her, warning that he would send people to harm her and her family, and would disclose the video, which had been recorded without her consent.
Police obtained recordings of calls in which the woman repeatedly asked Rahman to leave her alone.
She revealed to authorities that Rahman was abusive and possessive, often angered by her outings with others and making baseless accusations.
He admitted to charges of blackmail, voyeurism, harassment, coercive control, and threats to share a private sexual recording.
He was sentenced to a prison term of three years and four months on October 12.
Furthermore, Rahman received an indefinite restraining order to stay away from the victim.
