BLACKPOOL MAN JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING YOUNG GIRLS
Rodney Dinsmore, aged 78 of Park Road, Blackpool, was convicted of sexually abusing three young girls during their childhood and adolescence.
His offenses included inciting a child to commit gross indecency, indecent assault on a girl under 14, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, sexual activity with a child under 13, inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual acts, and sexual activity with a minor under 17.
These crimes came to light after being reported to police in 2017, leading to a detailed investigation.
Dinsmore was found guilty by a jury following a trial held in November 2023.
On January 30, 2024, at Preston Crown Court, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison, with an additional three-year extended licence period.
He was also ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely and was issued a sexual harm prevention order.
Detective chief inspector Lee Wilson praised the victims for their bravery and emphasized the police's commitment to bringing offenders to justice, stating: “...
I want to begin by thanking and praising the victims for their bravery throughout this incredibly distressing time.
They have shown such courage and resilience in reporting Dinsmore’s despicable crimes, and I am pleased that they have received justice.” Wilson also called on others to come forward if they have experienced similar crimes, assuring that police investigations would be conducted professionally and sensitively.
