ROBERT WILSON FROM CARLUKE SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC SEXUAL ABUSE IN GLASGOW

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Carluke and the wider Glasgow area, Robert Wilson, aged 21, was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for a series of heinous crimes involving a teenage girl. The offences spanned over several years, from October 2007 to June 2010, during which Wilson engaged in a pattern of sexual abuse, intimidation, and malicious online activity against the young victim.

Wilson admitted to multiple charges, including indecent assault and rape of the girl, who was only 14 at the time of the most severe incidents. The court heard that Wilson, who was 17 when some of these acts occurred, began a sexual relationship with the girl when she was just 13 years old. As the relationship progressed, Wilson repeatedly pressured her into sexual acts, at times forcing himself upon her despite her clear discomfort and reluctance.

One of the most disturbing revelations was that Wilson filmed himself raping the girl as she cried, a deeply traumatic event that underscored the cruelty of his actions. During the court proceedings, it was disclosed that Wilson had also engaged in taunting the girl, calling her hurtful names such as “fat” and comparing her to a dog, further humiliating and degrading her.

The case took a sinister turn when Wilson created a Facebook account using the girl’s name and uploaded photographs of her. He then sent a link to this account to her mother, an act that caused significant distress. The girl, overwhelmed by the betrayal and abuse, later attempted to take her own life by ingesting multiple paracetamol tablets, which resulted in her requiring hospital treatment.

In March 2011, Wilson escalated his harassment by establishing a fake Facebook profile in the girl’s name, posting images of her in her underwear. He then forwarded this profile to her mother, who promptly alerted her daughter. The emotional toll on the young girl was profound, and her mental health suffered greatly as a result of Wilson’s actions.

During police interviews, Wilson claimed ignorance of the law regarding sexual activity with minors under 16 and insisted that all acts were consensual. However, evidence presented in court proved otherwise, including the fact that he had set up the Facebook page to spread false accusations that the girl had been raped and beaten by him. Wilson’s behavior was described by the judge, Lord Bracadale, as a “course of cruel sexual conduct,” which had a devastating impact on the victim.

Judge Lord Bracadale sentenced Wilson to four and a half years in prison, emphasizing the severity of his crimes and the harm inflicted upon the young girl.
