FERGIE ROBSON FROM CARLUKE STRUCK OFF AFTER CREEPY STALKING OF TEENAGE GIRLS IN LANARKSHIRE

Fergie Robson, a 57-year-old educator from Carluke, Lanarkshire, has been officially removed from the teaching profession following a series of disturbing incidents involving the harassment and inappropriate contact with teenage girls. The case, which was heard at Lanark Sheriff Court, revealed a pattern of troubling behavior that spanned several months and involved both in-person and online interactions.

Robson admitted to four charges of stalking girls aged between 15 and 17. The court heard that he had engaged in inappropriate communication with two girls at a school and two others he was tutoring remotely via online platforms. His actions included sending explicit messages, as well as a personal book he authored titled ‘The Bin Brigade,’ which contained explicit language and detailed descriptions of sexual acts. He instructed one girl to keep the book a secret, further emphasizing the clandestine nature of his conduct.

Further investigations uncovered that Robson had been inappropriately contacting two other girls he was tutoring through Zoom. He persistently sent messages to one girl, and on one occasion, he asked her to send a video of herself twerking. These actions raised serious concerns about his intentions and behavior. The court was also informed that Robson had driven two of the girls to an event in his car, during which he inappropriately touched one girl on her thighs to remove dog hair. The girl attempted to stop him by placing her hands behind her legs, and she later described his behavior as ‘creepy.’

In addition to these incidents, Robson sent one girl an email containing song lyrics he had written, accompanied by a message implying a private connection between them. He also sent another message suggesting she take a photograph of herself in a manner that appeared to have sexual connotations, such as looking serious with glasses and a pen, with a Fleetwood Mac LP cover in the background. The girl found these messages disturbing, especially as Robson called her ‘gorgeous’ and told her she would look ‘hot’ in a dress going to church.

Following his admission to the charges, Robson was sentenced to perform 300 hours of unpaid work and was placed under supervision for two years. Sheriff Siobhan Connelly emphasized the sexual element of his conduct, stating that his behavior involved a significant breach of trust and had a potentially damaging impact on the young women involved. The court also ordered Robson to be registered on the sex offenders’ register for two years, reflecting the seriousness of his actions.

It was noted that Robson has not been employed by South Lanarkshire Council since December 2023. The General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) has officially removed his registration, effectively banning him from teaching in the future unless he can demonstrate his fitness to do so. Sheriff Connelly highlighted that the young girls should have been able to attend school without fear of unwanted attention from a trusted adult, and she underscored the gravity of Robson’s misconduct and its potential impact on their well-being.
