NORTH SHIELDS MAN JAILED FOR LIFE FOR STABBING HAIRDRESSER TO DEATH
Robert Tiffin, aged 46 and residing on Nile Street in North Shields, admitted to the murder of Lisa Banks. The 46-year-old hairdresser was discovered at the Sole-O barber shop located on Nile Street in September, suffering from multiple stab wounds.
His actions resulted in her death after he engaged in a campaign of harassment following Lisa Banks' departure from their shared residence six months prior.
This harassment reached its peak with her stabbing on 7 September.
During the court proceedings at Newcastle Crown Court, Tiffin was sentenced to serve at least 23 years in prison.
Both family members and police officials described Tiffin as highly dangerous and referred to him in court as an 'evil man'.
The family shared their heartbreak and remembered Lisa’s lively personality and passion for her work as a barber, expressing regret that she did not live to see her first grandchild.
Detective Chief Inspector Christina Barrett commented that Tiffin is a 'callous and evil man' whose actions inflicted significant trauma on Lisa’s loved ones.
The court’s sentence aims to bring some measure of peace to her family.
