CHLOE STANLEY
She took Ash after its previous owner sought help but cruelly ended its life when she couldn't cope and became angry, as heard at Newcastle Crown Court.
Stanley, also known as McNally, 22, admitted causing unnecessary suffering to the animal and was sentenced to 10 months suspended for two years, along with a 10-year ban from keeping animals.
The court was told she used a dog slip lead to kill Ash, who was in good condition before his death.
A post-mortem revealed signs of blunt trauma consistent with physical attack, with suffering that was avoidable.
Judge Stephen Earl stated, "Within 24 hours, Ash had died at your hands.
That's not unfortunate, that's appalling."
