BLACKPOOL PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR SYSTEMATIC CHILD ABUSE
A paedophile named Robert Smith, aged 48 and formerly residing on Redcar Road in Blackpool, has been sentenced to nine years in prison after pleading guilty to abusing two boys from Fylde over an 18-month period.
The court heard that Smith, who has previous convictions dating back to 1976 for child indecency offenses, admitted to eight charges of indecent assault against the two boys, both under 11, between spring 2002 and 2003.
The investigation was initiated after an allegation from a seven-year-old girl last July, leading police to arrest Smith and remand him in custody.
However, the charge related to the girl was dropped after the boys' parents came forward.
Detective Constable Richard Greer emphasized the significance of the conviction, stating it sends a warning to potential offenders and reassures the community that such abuse will be punished.
Smith's case underscores a dedicated effort by authorities to ensure justice and protect children in the area.
