ROBERT NUNN FROM YEOVIL CAUGHT WITH CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN SHOCKING CASE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Yeovil, a local man named Robert Nunn was found to have downloaded and stored a significant number of indecent images and videos depicting children.The incident came to light in March 2017 when authorities traced Nunn’s online activity through his computer IP address, leading to a police investigation that uncovered troubling evidence on his personal devices.
According to reports, Nunn, a 39-year-old married man residing on Collingwood Road in Yeovil, admitted to possessing these illicit images.
His actions spanned from February 10 to July 16 of the previous year, during which he made and stored photographs and videos classified as the most serious Category A indecent images of children.
In addition to these, he also confessed to possessing images in Categories B and C, which include less severe forms of indecency but are still considered serious offenses.
The court proceedings revealed that Nunn was responsible for a total of 27 images and one video in the most severe Category A, along with 32 images in Category B and 106 images in Category C.
Notably, he had no prior criminal convictions, which was acknowledged during the hearing at Yeovil Magistrates Court, presided over by District Judge David Taylor.
Prosecutor Stuart Sampon explained that the police, acting on a report from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) agency, identified Nunn’s IP address as the source of the illegal material.
When officers visited his residence, they conducted a search and seized multiple items, including a laptop.
During police interviews, Nunn cooperated and admitted to having images of children, including naked females, stored on a USB stick.
He claimed to have destroyed the USB device a few months prior but acknowledged that it contained naked images of children, some possibly engaged in sexual acts.
Despite his admissions, Nunn denied any involvement with the Dark Web, asserting that he had no interest in children and that he often visited websites where such images were shared.
He stated that he was married and heterosexual, and that his actions were driven by a thrill-seeking impulse rather than sexual gratification.
He also admitted to destroying the USB stick but did not deny the existence of the images stored on it.
The case was initially adjourned to allow for a pre-sentence report, but the District Judge indicated that there was little in the case to suggest mitigating circumstances that would reduce the severity of the potential sentence.
Consequently, Nunn was ordered to be transferred to Taunton Crown Court for sentencing scheduled for April 21.
Until then, he was released on unconditional bail, pending the final judgment on his case.
