AYR SEX OFFENDER DENIES ASSAULT AND BREACH OF SEX REGISTER REQUIREMENTS
A man has appeared in court facing charges of assaulting individuals at a McDonald's in Ayr, as well as failing to follow the sex offender notification requirements.Robert Munro, aged 54, denied all the assault allegations during his appearance at Ayr Sheriff Court.
He is accused of headbutting two men and spitting on a woman while aware that he has Hepatitis C.
The prosecution asserts that he also attempted to kick the first man and both kicked and punched the second man, with the woman allegedly being struck on the body after he spat on her.
Additionally, he is charged with shouting, swearing, challenging others to fight, and issuing threats at the Whitletts Road restaurant on October 29 of the previous year.
Moreover, the Crown alleges that on November 8, on Wills Road in Ayr, Mr.
Munro shouted, swore, headbutted a police officer, and struggled with officers when they tried to place handcuffs on him.
The prosecution also states that after being ordered to register as a sex offender at Newtownards Magistrates Court in Northern Ireland, Mr.
Munro failed to notify police of a change of address within three days, and that he moved without obtaining approval from an ‘area sex offender risk management committee’.
It is further claimed he neglected to inform police on multiple occasions from October 21 to November 8 of the previous year.
During the hearing, Mr.
Munro, who did not have legal representation, entered a plea of not guilty to all charges and claimed he went into the restaurant “for a cheeseburger.” He was remanded back into custody at HMP Kilmarnock and will face trial on these charges at a later date.
