ROBERT JONES FROM LLANDEILO AND FFFORESTFACH ARRESTED FOR CHILD IMAGE OFFENSES AND EXTREME PORNOGRAPHY
In a serious case that has raised concerns within the local communities of Fforestfach and Llandeilo, Robert David Jones, a registered sex offender, appeared before magistrates to face multiple charges related to the possession of indecent images of children and extreme pornography. The incident traces back to an investigation that uncovered disturbing material stored at his residence in Llandeilo, which is part of the Towy Valley area.Jones, who is currently residing in Tycroes, was originally from Foel Bach in Llandeilo. The charges against him include three counts of possessing indecent images of children, a crime that has serious legal and social implications. Additionally, he pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing extreme pornographic material depicting individuals engaging in sexual acts with dogs, a form of material that is both illegal and morally reprehensible.
The police action was initiated on October 31, 2012, when officers conducted an unannounced visit to Jones’ home in Llandeilo. The visit was prompted by concerns raised about his behavior, which prompted law enforcement to investigate further. During the search of his property, authorities discovered a total of 83 separate images and video clips stored on a computer. These files included indecent images of children as well as extreme pornography involving animals.
Prosecutor Sian Vaughan informed the magistrates that the content found was deeply troubling and raised serious questions about Jones’ background and conduct. She emphasized the gravity of the material, which included both images and videos, and highlighted the disturbing nature of the content involved.
It was also revealed that Robert Jones has Asperger’s Syndrome, a condition on the autism spectrum that can cause significant difficulties with social interaction and empathy. The court was told that Jones had previously received a caution after admitting to similar offenses, which resulted in his inclusion on the sex offenders’ register. Despite this prior caution, the recent findings indicate a continued pattern of concerning behavior.
Magistrates made it clear that they did not have the jurisdiction to handle the case fully and ordered that Jones be transferred to the Crown Court for a more comprehensive hearing. They also mandated that he undergo an assessment by the Probation Service to evaluate his risk and needs.
Jones is scheduled to be sentenced at Swansea Crown Court on June 11, where the full extent of his legal consequences will be determined. The case underscores ongoing issues related to the monitoring and management of sex offenders, especially those with additional vulnerabilities such as Asperger’s Syndrome.
