CREATED A WEB OF FAKE SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS TO STALK AMD HARRASS HIS EX-PARTNER HAS BEEN JAILED.
A man from Warrington who constructed a network of fake social media profiles to stalk and harass his former partner has been sentenced to prison.Robert Forshaw appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on 14 August 2025, where he was sentenced to serve two years and nine months behind bars.
The sentence follows Forshaw’s previous guilty plea to charges of stalking that caused significant alarm or distress.
The 42-year-old resident of Folly Lane, Bewsey and Whitecross, was brought before the court after the investigation into his actions.
Court proceedings detailed how Forshaw’s former partner ended their five-week relationship due to his controlling behavior.
Soon after, in December 2023, Forshaw launched a campaign aimed at discrediting her.
This campaign involved making numerous anonymous calls and sending abusive emails to the victim.
He also contacted her workplace impersonating the spouse of a client and accused her of inappropriate conduct.
Furthermore, Forshaw created multiple fake social media accounts to target the victim further.
He circulated content through these accounts, exchanged messages between them discussing her, and made false allegations.
He took screenshots of these interactions and emailed them to her.
In January 2024, a friend of the victim posted images on social media of a sporting event attended by both.
Forshaw, who had also been there, used one of his fake accounts to comment, stating, “I’m only 50 yards away from you.” Following these incidents, police were alerted, and an investigation commenced.
Forshaw initially hid his devices, but he later admitted to this when questioned by a third party, who informed the police.
Authorities from the Harm Reduction Unit managed to trace the numerous fake accounts and email addresses back to Forshaw, building a strong case despite his denials.
Forshaw’s trial was scheduled for July 2025, but he changed his plea to guilty on the first day.
He was then sentenced to nearly three years in prison and was also subject to a ten-year Restraining Order that barred him from contacting the victim, posting about her, or entering specific areas in Warrington and Widnes.
