WARRINGTON PAEDOPHILE SPARED JAIL AFTER DECOY STING
A PAEDOPHILE who was engaging in sexual conversations with schoolgirls has been convicted and sentenced.
Jordan Sharp was having inappropriate communication and encouraging sexual acts from a decoy, who he believed was a 13-year-old girl, but was actually part of a paedophile hunter operation.
He was also involved in sexualised exchanges with an actual girl aged between 14 and 15.
Sharp appeared before Liverpool Crown Court and pleaded guilty to multiple child sex abuse charges, including attempting to incite a girl to engage in sexual activity, making indecent images of children, possessing such images, and sexual communication with minors.
Prosecutor Geoff Lowe detailed how Sharp, aged 25, was arrested in February after being exposed by a woman operating as a decoy named Heidi.
During the investigation, devices including his iPhone were examined and found to contain indecent images of children and videos.
Despite having no prior convictions, Sharp was handed a two-year prison sentence, suspended for two years, and was subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and notification requirements.
The judge noted his remorse and difficult start in life as mitigating factors.
The conduct was deemed wholly unacceptable, but his character and mental health at the time were also considered.
