GIRL, 13, LURED TO HOTEL BY TWO MEN AND REPEATEDLY RAPED

A 13-year-old girl was reportedly lured into a hotel by two men, where she was subjected to repeated sexual assault, a court was told.

The judge stated that the girl 'did not have a chance' after being 'frog-marched' into the hotel room by Shahram Ibrehemi, who was 19 years old at the time, and Riley Smith, aged 18.

She had met the pair while out with friends in Hull.

They invited her to join them around the town and claimed they were staying at a nearby hotel.

Despite repeatedly telling them to leave her alone, the girl was later persuaded to go to Smith's hotel room that same day.

While she was there, Smith kept watch outside, telling Ibrehemi that he would stay for 20 minutes.

The judge described how she knew what was likely to happen, and Ibrehemi then repeatedly raped her.

Meanwhile, Smith would frequently enter the room, urging Ibrehemi to 'shut her up' to prevent her from alerting others.

At Grimsby Crown Court, Ibrehemi, now 20, who had been residing in 'immigration-based accommodation', pleaded guilty to rape.

Smith, aged 19 from Grimsby but living in Hull at the time, denied the charge but was found guilty by a jury after a trial.

He chose not to attend his sentencing.

The court heard that the girl told the defendants she was only 13, and she explicitly asked them to leave her alone, calling them 'paedos' and stating she had no intention to go with them.

Despite her protests, they persisted in trying to lure her, and she even gave her mobile number hoping to dissuade them.

Later, she went drinking alcohol with friends, and by the time she was re-approached by the men, she was intoxicated.

She later reported that she had consumed about three-quarters of a litre of vodka mixed with cherry Coke and was unable to walk straight.

Judge Gurdial Singh commented that she was clearly a vulnerable target.

CCTV footage showed her almost unable to stand, and the judge observed that she 'could not stand up' during the incident.

The court revealed that a pillow was used on her head during the assault, and Ibrehemi punched her in the leg.

Hotel CCTV footage displayed Smith loitering in the corridor, pacing anxiously, and occasionally looking into the room while on lookout.

Upon suspicion, a hotel staff member responded, but Smith falsely claimed he was seeking a signal for his mobile.

Eventually, the men exited the hotel, with CCTV capturing her heavily intoxicated state, barely able to walk.

Her next memory was being collected by her father on Anlaby Road and taken home.

The girl later confided in a friend, which led to police involvement and her subsequent arrest.

The victim impact statement was read aloud, describing her feelings of pain and loss of confidence, personality, and innocence.

She expressed her belief that her virginity should have been protected and was devastated that it was taken.

The statement reflected her ongoing trauma, stating that she now fears boys and men and rarely goes out, longing to regain her former cheerful and confident self.

Legal arguments highlighted Ibrehemi's immaturity at the time and his early admission of guilt.

He was an asylum seeker from Iran, arriving in the UK as a 17-year-old refugee after being smuggled due to threats in his homeland.

He was housed in immigration accommodation in Hull, isolated from his family.

He had no previous convictions and expressed remorse to the court.

During detention before sentencing, Ibrehemi was subjected to assaults, and officers noted that deportation was likely.

Smith's representative presented a psychological report and a letter from his mother, describing his troubled background, including abuse and exploitation in County Lines drug dealing.

He moved to Hull seeking a new start and apologised for his actions.

The judge emphasised that both men had coordinated in committing the rape, with alcohol and drugs influencing their behaviour.

Ibrehemi received a sentence of nine years and seven months, while Smith was sentenced to seven years, with both serving at least two-thirds before possible parole.

They will remain on the sex offenders' register for life and are prohibited from working with children.

Addressing the victim, Judge Singh said that the custodial sentences would be of little comfort to her and it would not make up for what happened.

He stressed to her that she was the victim and not to reproach herself for taking alcohol.

"All young people are entitled to make mistakes," he said.

"They took advantage of you.

You had the most awful experience.

It was not of your making."
