RICKY JONES FROM ELLESMERE SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES AND DRUG DEALING IN SHREWSBURY
In a case that has shocked the local community of Ellesmere, Ricky Aaron Jones has been convicted of serious criminal offenses involving minors and drug activity. The proceedings took place at Shrewsbury Crown Court, where Jones faced multiple charges related to his predatory behavior and illegal drug dealings.Jones, a known local figure and small-time drug dealer from Ellesmere, was found guilty of engaging in sexual activities with a 14-year-old girl. The court heard that Jones had targeted the young girl via Facebook, where he lured her with promises of drugs and alcohol. It was established that Jones was fully aware of her age at the time of their interactions, which led to multiple sexual encounters. The case highlighted the disturbing pattern of grooming and exploitation carried out by Jones, who also had several other sexual encounters with young girls from the Ellesmere area.
During the trial, it was revealed that other victims were hesitant to come forward, possibly due to fear or shame, but their testimonies contributed to the conviction. In addition to the sexual offenses, Jones was convicted of supplying or offering to supply a controlled drug of Class B to another individual, further demonstrating his involvement in illegal activities.
Jones was sentenced to a total of three years in prison. Specifically, he received a 12-month sentence for the two counts of sexual activity with a child under 16. This sentence was ordered to run consecutively with additional sentences for drug-related offenses, which included supplying and offering to supply a Class B drug. The combined sentences resulted in a total imprisonment period of three years.
The court also took stringent measures to protect the community and vulnerable individuals. The judge disqualified Jones from working with children for life, a move aimed at preventing any future harm. Furthermore, Jones was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life and was placed under a sexual offences prevention order for five years, restricting his activities and monitoring his behavior.
Jones was released in June 2014 after serving his sentence, but the court’s rulings ensure that he remains under supervision and legal restrictions to safeguard the community from potential reoffending.
