MAN WHO HELD PILLOW OVER PARTNER’S FACE JAILED
A man who confined his ex-partner inside their home and pressed a pillow over her face to hinder her breathing has been sentenced to prison.Authorities responded to the residence of Richard Chipperfield, aged 39, on 15 March last year after a mental health helpline received a message from his former partner.
She reported that he had locked her inside their caravan and prevented her from leaving.
Following her consent, police intervened after she revealed that Chipperfield had become increasingly controlling over recent months.
She reported that he had been tracking her phone and even following her to the bathroom.
In a separate incident in February 2025, Chipperfield also placed a pillow over her face in an attempt to suffocate her and made a threatening remark that if he were a woman, he would have killed her.
During proceedings at Cambridge Crown Court on Thursday, 21 May, Chipperfield, who resides on Wood Lane in Ramsey, was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison after admitting to charges of false imprisonment and deliberate strangulation.
