PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR SEXUAL ADVANCES TO DECOY ONLINE
A convicted paedophile has been jailed after he made sexual advances to what he thought was a 14-year-old boy.James Brooking, 30, has been sentenced to eight years after pleading guilty to attempted sexual communication with a child, causing a child to look at an image of sexual activity, arranging and facilitating a child sex offence, and four counts of failing to comply with sex offender register notification requirements.
Brooking, of Upwood Road, Ramsey, appeared at Cambridge Crown Court last Friday (October 24).
The 30-year-old started chatting with what he believed was a 14-year-old boy on social media platform Fabguys on July 3.
However, the decoy was actually an undercover officer.
Brooking asked for the phone number of the decoy.
Once contact was established, Brooking requested inappropriate photos and turned the conversation sexual.
He expressed a desire to see the ‘boy’ in his uniform, to meet up, and also sent inappropriate photos of himself.
The communication ended on July 10, and Brooking was arrested on July 14 at an address with a child he had not disclosed to police.
He was previously convicted in 2014 of child sex offences and was subject to specific requirements, including notifying police of new online usernames and informing police if staying at an address with a child for 12 hours or more.
During the court hearing, Judge Andrew Hurst described Brooking’s offending as “highly sexualised” and “gratuitous self-indulgence.” PC Emily Heriot, who led the investigation, said: "Brooking displayed a disguised compliance to his requirements but the truth has caught up with him.
We will do everything we can to ensure those intent on harming children face justice."
