RICHARD BROOKER FROM WALLASEY CAUGHT VIEWING CHILD PORN ON UNIVERSITY COMPUTER IN WORCESTER
In a disturbing incident that took place at the University of Worcester, a 39-year-old man named Richard Brooker was caught using a university computer to access and download explicit images of children. The incident occurred on December 13 of the previous year, and the details of the case have since come to light during a court hearing at Worcester Magistrates Court.According to court reports, Brooker was in the university’s computer room when he was observed by another individual browsing a pornographic image depicting a child. This prompted immediate concern and confrontation. The university staff then shut down the computer and confiscated it for analysis. Subsequent investigations revealed that Brooker had downloaded a total of 39 images classified as child pornography.
The images in question included photographs of young girls, some dressed in bikinis and others in various states of undress, with ages ranging from as young as five up to approximately 13 or 14 years old. All of the images were categorized at level one, indicating they were among the least severe in terms of explicit content. Prosecutor Mark Johnson described these images as involving 'erotic posing,' but emphasized that there was no evidence of any direct sexual activity involving children in the images.
During the court proceedings, Brooker, who holds an educational qualification and has previously worked as a healthcare assistant for the NHS, chose to represent himself. He stated that his family was unaware of the charges and the ongoing legal process against him. Brooker, who now resides on Stonehouse Road in Wallasey, Merseyside, faced serious legal consequences for his actions.
The magistrates sentenced Brooker to a three-year period of supervision, during which he will be monitored and required to attend a specialized sexual offenders' program. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for five years. The court also mandated the destruction of all the downloaded images and imposed a financial penalty of £85 to cover court costs. Brooker was further instructed to comply with these conditions as part of his sentence, which aims to address the severity of his misconduct and prevent future offenses.
