MAN JAILED FOR 15 YEARS FOR NON-RECENT CHILD SEX OFFENCES
A man has received a 15-year prison sentence after being convicted of five serious sexual offences involving a child, offences that took place between 2020 and 2022.
Rhogan Kent, age 28 and residing on London Road in Portsmouth, appeared before Portsmouth Crown Court on Wednesday, 14 January.
He was sentenced on charges including the rape of a child under 13, two counts of sexual assault by penetration of a child under 13, sexual touching of a child under 13, and inciting a child under 13 to perform a sexual act.
The case was initially reported to the police in September 2022, leading to an extensive investigation led by Detective Hannah Owen from the Child Abuse Investigation Team (CAIT).
Kent was found guilty of the crimes by a jury on November 4, 2025, after a trial lasting seven days, and was sentenced to serve 15 years in prison with an additional five years on extended license.
Furthermore, he was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and mandated to register as a sex offender for life.
Detective Sergeant Hannah Owen of the Eastern Criminal Investigation Department commented, “While no punishment can undo the trauma caused to the victim and their family, I am pleased Kent has been held accountable and is now behind bars for these heinous crimes.
“I want to thank the victim and their family for their bravery and perseverance throughout this process.
Their support was crucial in achieving justice, and I hope this outcome aids in their efforts to rebuild their lives.
“We also urge anyone affected by child sexual abuse to come forward and report it.
We take all allegations seriously and are committed to pursuing justice for victims.”
