REECE MCGREGOR SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN BLACKPOOL
Reece McGregor, also known as Reece McKenzie McGregor, has been formally sentenced for his involvement in two serious sexual assault cases in Blackpool.The 19-year-old offender appeared before Preston Crown Court to face justice for his actions, which included attacking two teenage girls during their sleep.
The court proceedings culminated in a significant prison sentence, reflecting the gravity of his crimes.
McGregor was handed a seven-year prison term for his offenses, which involved the sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman at her residence on Halloween last year.
The victim was asleep at the time of the assault, and the incident was reported to authorities shortly thereafter.
The court also imposed an additional three-year extended license period, overseen by the Honorary Recorder of Preston, Judge Mark Brown, to monitor McGregor’s conduct following his release from prison.
Details of the case reveal that McGregor was arrested in November following the first attack.
However, he was released on bail while investigations continued.
During this period, he committed a second assault, this time targeting a 16-year-old girl on July 4 of this year.
The incident took place at an address on Clevedon Way in Blackpool, where the victim had gone with a friend to socialise with McGregor and his companion.
The girl had only met McGregor a few times prior to the incident.
According to reports, the teenage girl fell asleep during the gathering.
She later woke up to find McGregor sexually assaulting her.
Despite her efforts to push him away, he persisted and raped her.
The victim recounted her ordeal, saying, “It has been difficult, but I had my family around me.
When it happened I rang my mum straight away, and when I got home she could tell from the look in my eyes that something was wrong.
We rang the police straight away.
I had to have tests to make sure I didn’t have any sexually transmitted diseases.
Waiting for the results was very scary.” She also shared that the traumatic experience led her to suffer from depression, and she has since undergone counselling to cope with the emotional aftermath.
The court’s decision reflects the seriousness of McGregor’s actions and the impact on his victims, emphasizing the importance of justice for those affected by such crimes in Blackpool and beyond.
