DOMESTIC VIOLENCE OFFENDER FACES JAIL DESPITE COMMUNITY ORDER
Raymond McCormick, aged 37, was involved in a domestic violence incident despite being already enrolled in a community order and a domestic violence program.
According to the report, he attacked his girlfriend Kelly Fisher in August last year, causing bodily harm and breaking windows.
McCormick had previously been sentenced on a community order after assaulting another partner, but he turned against Ms.
Fisher despite the guidance he was receiving through the program.
The case was heard at Newcastle Crown Court, where Recorder Lodge acknowledged the seriousness of the offenses, stating, "You have pleaded guilty to two serious offences for which you may be sent to prison.
That is the sentence you should expect in the light of your history." The court adjourned for further reports, and McCormick was remanded on bail.
He is required to reside at an address in Cambridge Avenue, Wallsend, and must not contact Ms.
Fisher.
Prosecutor John Brennan emphasized, "This was quite a serious case of domestic violence," and highlighted that McCormick was in breach of a previous community order.
He is due to be sentenced on February 2.
