ÂBULLYÂ ATTACKED GIRLFRIEND OVER HOUSE ROW
AN Orford man was branded a bully' by a judge after admitting banging his girlfriend's head against a wall and pointing a knife at her.Raymond Delooze, aged 45, from Ennerdale Avenue in Longford, pleaded guilty to affray over the attack on Jacqueline Lutton.
Recorder Elgin Edwards sentenced Delooze to 13-and-a-half months in jail at Warrington Crown Court on Tuesday and told him: "This is the second time in 14 months you have been convicted of affray against a partner.
"All the indications are you are a bully when you are at home, you are a bully towards your partners, and domestic violence towards them will not be tolerated by this court.
It is a social curse.
You did not even have the courage to plead guilty until the morning of the trial.
"Custody is quite inevitable.
You must be punished and made to realise you cannot behave in this manner." Delooze and his partner had been arguing during a trip to Liverpool and the dispute continued when they came home.
Mr Delooze couldn't find the papers about a house they were planning to rent together, the court heard.
He went on to grab his partner's hair while she was sat in a chair and banged her head three or four times against a wall.
He punched her in the face and injured her lip, pointed a knife at her and said words to the effect of I’m going to kill you', and threatened to suffocate her as he put his hands over her mouth when she called for help.
Police noted in the interview that Delooze had suffered a bite mark on his arm and cut lip, which he blamed on his partner.
Michael Davies, defending, said his client lost his temper when he was drinking combined with stress and Delooze did not understand why.
Delooze was also convicted of affray in June last year after he assaulted a different partner and her son, the court heard, and threatened to kill them.
He was given a 12-month community supervision order on that occasion.
