RAMBO BAERAM SENTENCED FOR KIDNAPPING AND SEXUAL ASSAULT IN WALSALL
A man identified as Rambo Baeram has been sentenced to prison after a series of violent and disturbing incidents involving the attempted kidnapping and assault of two women in Walsall earlier this year.On the early morning of February 28th, a woman in her twenties was walking along Scarborough Road when she was suddenly grabbed from behind by an unidentified man.
The assailant attempted to force her into his vehicle, a black Audi, in an apparent attempt to kidnap her.
Despite his efforts, the woman resisted fiercely, fighting off her attacker.
During the struggle, she was punched in the face, resulting in swelling and bruising.
Her quick thinking and determination allowed her to break free from the attacker’s grip, and she ran to the nearest residence seeking help.
Just a few days later, on March 2nd, a 17-year-old girl was walking along Hawes Road shortly before 11 pm when she encountered a man in a vehicle who tried to persuade her to get inside.
When she refused, the man exited the vehicle and proceeded to physically assault her by punching and kicking her.
The attacker then committed a sexual assault against her.
Fortunately, the young woman managed to escape and ran to a nearby home to seek assistance.
She also activated her mobile phone’s emergency call feature, alerting police to the incident.
Both victims sustained injuries to their faces and heads, highlighting the violent nature of these attacks.
Law enforcement officers responded swiftly and obtained CCTV footage from both incidents.
The footage clearly showed a black Audi pulling up beside each woman during the attacks.
This evidence led investigators to link the vehicle to Rambo Baeram, aged 25, who was subsequently arrested in connection with the crimes.
During police interviews, Baeram denied ownership of the vehicle at the time of the offenses, claiming he was at home sleeping.
However, both victims participated in an identification parade and independently identified Baeram as their attacker.
Following this, he was formally charged with two counts of attempted kidnapping, two counts of assault, and one count of sexual assault.
Baeram’s guilt was confirmed by a jury during an earlier trial, and on November 15th, he was sentenced to five years in prison at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
Additionally, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the next ten years.
Sergeant Carrie Stimpson from the Public Protection Unit expressed her thoughts on the case, stating, “Baeram had no relationship to either of the victims—they were strangers, attacked on the streets when they should feel safe.
These incidents were deeply concerning, and we worked extremely hard to bring Baeram to justice.
The women have been very brave throughout the whole process and were even forced to sit through a trial.
I commend them for their courage.”
