RADU MIHAI CAUGHT IN COALVILLE BY PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS FOR SEXUAL GROOMING OF 13-YEAR-OLD

In July 2018, a Romanian-born man named Radu Mihai, aged 24, from Coalville, found himself at the center of a serious criminal investigation after attempting to engage in sexual activities with a minor he believed to be 13 years old. The incident unfolded when Mihai initiated contact with an online profile that he thought belonged to a young girl of that age. Over the course of their digital interaction, he sent numerous sexually explicit messages and images, clearly indicating his intent to meet the girl for sexual purposes.

Unbeknownst to Mihai, the profile he was communicating with was actually a decoy operated by an online paedophile hunting team known as 'Parental Online Protection.' This team specializes in catching individuals attempting to exploit minors through the internet. Once Mihai's intentions became apparent, the team took immediate action. They visited his residence in Coalville accompanied by a Romanian interpreter to facilitate communication and ensure clarity during questioning.

During the visit, the team questioned Mihai about his online activities and his intentions. After gathering sufficient evidence, they contacted the police, who then arrested Mihai based on the evidence provided. The case was subsequently brought before Leicester Crown Court, where Mihai appeared to face justice for his actions.

At the court hearing, Mihai was charged with attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming. The court proceedings revealed the extent of his online communications and his clear intent to engage in sexual activity with a minor. Despite the gravity of the charges, Mihai was not sentenced to prison. Instead, the judge imposed a community order, requiring him to attend a sexual offenders' rehabilitation program for a period of 90 days.
