QUASIM INAYAT KEIGHLEY SEX GROOMER SENTENCED FOR PREDATORY ATTACKS ON VULNERABLE WOMEN AND TEENAGE GIRL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Keighley, Quasim Inayat, a 31-year-old man from Asthall Close, was sentenced to nearly eight years in prison for a series of heinous sexual offenses involving vulnerable women and a teenage girl. The Bradford Crown Court heard how Inayat, described by police as a "manipulative, determined and dangerous" individual, targeted individuals with mental health difficulties and underage victims, exploiting their vulnerabilities for his own gratification.
Inayat's criminal activities spanned from 2008 to 2012, during which he engaged in multiple acts of sexual assault and abuse.
Among his victims was a 15-year-old schoolgirl whom he persistently followed in his car.
He would lure her with alcohol, specifically neat vodka, before subjecting her to sexual assault.
The court was told that Inayat lied about his age, claiming he was four years younger than he actually was, in an attempt to manipulate her.
His predatory behavior did not stop there.
He also targeted two women with mental health issues.
One of these women was raped, while the other was sexually assaulted by him.
The second woman, a young mother suffering from post-natal depression, was met through social networking sites.
Inayat's actions culminated in a brutal assault on her, which she managed to escape by fleeing a mile through the darkness of remote moorland above Keighley, dialling 999 as she ran for safety.
During the court proceedings, Inayat pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including the sexual assault of the 15-year-old girl and a woman with learning difficulties.
His defense, represented by Katherine Blackwell QC, acknowledged his struggles with alcohol and cocaine, which they argued contributed to his unacceptable behavior towards women.
Despite this, the court emphasized the severity of his actions and the danger he posed to society.
The sentencing of Inayat comes just weeks after two other men from Keighley, Shazad Rehman and Bilal Hussain, received lengthy prison terms for their involvement in the rape and assault of underage girls.
Rehman, aged 30, was sentenced to 18 and a half years, while Hussain, aged 23, received 17 and a half years.
Both were convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl and committing further assaults on other minors.
These cases highlight a disturbing pattern of exploitation and abuse within the Keighley area.
Chief Superintendent Angela Williams, who oversees the Airedale and North Bradford division, issued a stark warning to potential offenders, stating, "This is the second trial in a matter of weeks specifically relating to child sexual exploitation and really represents our focus on bringing the perpetrators of these crimes to justice.
This latest sentence should therefore serve as further warning to others that we will not tolerate this behaviour in West Yorkshire, and those involved will experience the same fate." Detective Chief Inspector Chris Walker, the senior investigating officer, reinforced the message, describing Inayat as a "predatory sex offender who deliberately targeted young and vulnerable women for his own personal gratification." He praised the proactive investigation that led to Inayat's conviction, emphasizing that the police built a comprehensive picture of his manipulative and dangerous behavior, which ultimately resulted in his lengthy imprisonment.
Inayat's case underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse in the region.
His actions, which included following a teenage girl in his car, drugging and assaulting women, and engaging in online relationships to facilitate his crimes, have left a lasting impact on his victims and the community of Keighley.
The court's decision aims to send a clear message that such predatory behavior will be met with severe consequences, reinforcing the commitment to protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation and abuse.
