LIVERPOOL MAN CONVICTED OF PARTNER'S MURDER
A man named Piotr Cichy, aged 49, was convicted of the murder of his partner Magdalena Pacult, aged 46, in the Liverpool suburb of Stockbridge Village on New Year’s Day.The Crown Prosecution Service reported that Cichy had a pattern of abuse against Magdalena over the course of their relationship and was characterized as a 'violent bully' with a history of violence related to alcohol consumption.
The victim's body was found inside their home by her 16-year-old daughter after the pair had been talking late into the night.
The daughter called emergency services, who arrived to find Magdalena’s body and subsequently arrested Cichy.
He initially denied responsibility, suggesting someone else had committed the crime, but police later found him at a friend's residence wearing bloodstained pajamas and he admitted to killing her.
The case was tried at Liverpool Crown Court, where a jury unanimously convicted Cichy of murder.
He is scheduled for sentencing on September 24.
Prosecutor Angie Rowan noted, “Piotr Cichy has a history of violent bullying and abuse directed at Magdalena Pacult during most of their relationship.
His issues with alcohol often worsened the violence.
While the exact circumstances that led to her death may never be fully understood, the impact was tragic.”
