PHILLIP BOULTON FROM CLEETHORPES SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING TEEN GIRLS IN GRIMSBY
In a case that has shocked the local community, Phillip Boulton, a 24-year-old bus driver from Highthorpe Crescent in Cleethorpes, was found guilty of engaging in inappropriate sexual activities with two underage girls, one of whom became pregnant as a result of their encounters.The incident was brought to light during proceedings at Grimsby Crown Court, where Boulton admitted to four separate charges related to his misconduct involving the teenage girls.
According to the prosecution, led by Philip Standfast, the first girl had established a relationship with Boulton in 2005 through a mutual friend.
Their relationship quickly turned intimate, and they engaged in sexual activity.
This girl later discovered she was pregnant, and although she initially continued the relationship, she eventually decided to terminate the pregnancy through an abortion.
The court heard that their relationship was characterized by a pattern of sexual encounters, which Boulton did not deny.
The second girl, who was also a minor, developed a romantic interest in Boulton during his employment as a bus driver between September and November of the previous year.
She frequently traveled on his bus routes and they maintained communication through exchanged messages.
Their relationship escalated to the point where they engaged in sexual activity after meeting in some fields, an act that further compounded the seriousness of the case.
During the trial, Boulton’s defense attorney, Andrew Bailey, stated that his client had fully cooperated with police when questioned about both girls after the second girl filed a complaint.
Bailey emphasized that Boulton expressed remorse for his actions, stating, “He is very sorry about what happened.
He wishes none of this had happened.” Bailey also acknowledged that the relationships were inappropriate and that one of the girls had a crush on Boulton, which he admitted to encouraging.
In sentencing, the court handed down a prison term of four years and three months to Boulton.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and was subjected to a sexual offences prevention order, reflecting the gravity of his misconduct and the need for ongoing supervision to protect the community from further harm.
The case has left many residents in Cleethorpes and Grimsby contemplating issues of trust and safety in their local environment.
