PHILIP GORDON OF ARMAGH CONVICTED FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY IN 2025
Philip Gordon, born circa 1995 and residing at 10 Mullinure Park, Armagh BT61 9EJ, was convicted in 2025 for cruelty to a dying cow found immobile in a field. The case was heard at Newry Court following an anonymous report from a member of the public, which raised concerns about the welfare of the cow belonging to Gordon that was lying motionless in a field.
Gordon faced multiple charges under the Welfare of Animals Act (Northern Ireland) 2011, including one count of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, and two counts of failing to take reasonable steps to meet the animal's needs, particularly in providing a suitable environment and diet.
A welfare inspection was conducted by staff from the DAERA Divisional Veterinary Office. The condition of the animal was so poor that it had to be euthanised by a DAERA veterinary officer.
In sentencing, Gordon was ordered to pay a fine of £600, along with a £15 offender levy. He received no ban from keeping animals.
The case was reported by ArmaghI.
