A man aged 70, named Peter Tripp, has been convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the killing of his wife, Belen Tripp, who was 52 years old, at their home located in Telford.
Tripp admitted guilt for the murder, which took place on 15 November at their house on Sixth Avenue in Ketley Bank.
Emergency responders confirmed Mrs.
Tripp’s death at the scene.
During a hearing at Stafford Crown Court, Tripp received a minimum sentence of 13 years in his life term.
Her family expressed their grief, describing her as a loving sister, sister-in-law, and auntie, who brought happiness and laughter to the Filipino community in Telford.
Detective Inspector Mark Bellamy stated, 'Belen Tripp endured severe abuse towards the end of her life at her husband’s hands.
We hope the prison sentence offers some solace to her loved ones, who have had to face her tragic death.
He also acknowledged her courage in calling for help despite facing tremendous abuse and paying the highest price.
He emphasized that no one should experience such violence from a family member and encouraged those experiencing domestic abuse to seek assistance.'
