PETER NIXON FROM KEIGHLEY JAILED FOR CHILD INDECENCY IMAGES

In a case that has shocked the community of Keighley, Peter Nixon has been sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of possessing and sharing indecent images of children.

The investigation was initiated when authorities in Thames Valley alerted their counterparts in Keighley, leading to a detailed inquiry into Nixon's online activities.

Prosecutor Michael Smith explained that the police investigation traced communications back to Nixon, who was operating under the alias 'Bulman 50.' The probe, which began in 2012, uncovered that Nixon had been in contact with two other men, both of whom shared similar disturbing interests.

These exchanges revealed a disturbing network of individuals exchanging illicit images, with Nixon identified as a key participant.

Authorities executed a search warrant at Nixon’s residence on Grafton Road in April 2013.

During the raid, they confiscated multiple pieces of computer equipment.

Subsequent analysis of these devices uncovered a staggering collection of indecent images, including approximately 800 classified as Category A—the most severe level—1,100 at Category B, and 1,800 at Category C.

Many of these images were stored in inaccessible areas of a laptop, indicating an attempt to hide or obscure their presence.

Additionally, chat logs were recovered, revealing detailed conversations with the two other men about the origins of their illicit material, the use of memory sticks for sharing files, and explicit preferences, with Nixon explicitly stating he favored boys over girls.

Further examination showed Nixon had sent around 100 images to one contact, who responded with 160 images, while he received approximately 46 files from another individual.

The evidence clearly demonstrated that Nixon was actively sharing and receiving indecent images with like-minded paedophiles.

When questioned, Nixon claimed he was not responsible for creating any of the images, attempting to distance himself from the actual production of the material.

Representing Nixon, solicitor Robin Frieze highlighted that his client had shown remorse and insight into his actions.

Frieze emphasized that Nixon was genuinely disgusted by his behavior and had sought help prior to the trial.

He argued that Nixon was not involved in any commercial distribution of the images but was merely sharing material within a deviant hobby among individuals who possessed similar content.

The defense also pointed out Nixon’s positive contributions to his community, urging the court to consider his efforts to reform and the importance of rehabilitation over imprisonment.

Despite these arguments, Judge James Spencer QC sentenced Nixon to two years in prison.

The judge described the images as being of the “most graphic kind” and noted the large quantity involved.

He acknowledged Nixon’s previous community work, including his role as a pastoral manager at University Academy Keighley, but emphasized that each image represented a child who had been abused.

“I can’t ignore any of that notwithstanding your other life,” the judge stated.

Following the sentencing, the principal of University Academy Keighley, Linda Wallsgrove, issued a statement reaffirming the institution’s commitment to safeguarding.

She clarified that Nixon had not been employed at the school since April 2013 and that the alleged offenses did not occur on school premises or involve any current or former students.

The school assured the public that all legal obligations regarding staff conduct are strictly followed, and emphasized that the criminal activities were entirely separate from the school environment.
