COUNCILLOR PETER MAY PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO HISTORIC RAPE CHARGE
A councillor has pleaded not guilty to raping a woman in the early 1990s.
Peter May, who sits on Swansea Council, entered his plea during a brief hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday.
The defendant spoke only to confirm his identity and to enter his not guilty plea, with Judge Richard Kember scheduling a trial for September 1 of the following year.
Peter Nicholas May, aged 56 and residing at Finsbury Terrace, Brynmill, Swansea, was released on bail prior to his trial.
The defendant represents the Uplands ward of Swansea Council for the Uplands Party.
