BALLYMENA MAN WITH 422 CONVICTIONS BACK IN COURT FOR VIOLENT ASSAULT
Peter Lyttle, a man with a staggering 422 criminal convictions, has been publicly exposed for several heinous acts, including attacking a terrified woman in his flat in Ballymena just after Christmas. The woman, who was previously unaware of Lyttle’s criminal past, described her ordeal: "I had no idea of this man’s past!
Although I’ve known him for 10 years, I never thought he was capable of such an evil act!!
I am lucky to be here today!
Thank god my daughter rang and I was able to answer; she heard my screams and called the police!" Witnesses and social media posts have branded him as a “beast,” emphasizing the danger he poses to women.
He has a record that includes 41 assaults on police, 27 common assaults, threats to kill, and numerous sex offenses which classify him on the sex offenders register.
Recently, Lyttle was involved in a fresh incident on December 29, where he forced his way into a property and assaulted his ex-wife and daughter, forcing them to barricade themselves.
He was sentenced to five months for this attack.
Additional incidents include a prior jail sentence for a similar attack on his ex-wife and daughter, and a drunken arrest in Waterfoot, Co Antrim, where he spat at police officers.
During this court case, he admitted to the charges with remorse: “Yes and I apologise, Your Honour.” Lyttle’s history of violence and sex offenses makes him one of Ulster’s most prolific offenders, deemed highly dangerous by the community and authorities alike.
