PETER JENKINS OF SOLIHULL SENTENCED TO 13 YEARS FOR HISTORICAL SEXUAL ABUSE IN WARWICK

In a significant case that has shocked the community of Solihull and the surrounding West Midlands area, Peter Jenkins, a 53-year-old former school teacher, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 13 years after admitting to a series of serious historical sexual offenses. The crimes, which spanned over two decades from 1984 to 2005, involved the abuse of four vulnerable young girls, one of whom was only 12 years old at the time.

Jenkins’s disturbing pattern of predatory behavior reportedly began during his teenage years. It is understood that he developed an interest in grooming young girls early on, with one of his first known victims being a 12-year-old girl he befriended while attending university. His abusive actions continued into his professional life as a school teacher, where he exploited his position of trust to victimize more girls. Among his victims was a 16-year-old girl who had been babysitting for Jenkins and his family, as well as assisting in organizing their church holiday club, further highlighting the extent of his manipulation and abuse.

The case came to light in January 2020 when a solicitor contacted West Midlands Police, revealing that Jenkins, then aged 51, was contemplating disclosing his past actions. This revelation prompted an investigation by the West Midlands Public Protection Unit, which sought to identify and locate the women Jenkins had groomed and abused during their childhoods and adolescence.

During police questioning, Jenkins, who is also known by the alias Peter Greenham, admitted to a total of 15 charges. These charges included rape, indecent assault, sexual assault, unlawful sexual intercourse, and inciting a girl to commit an act of gross indecency. The case was brought before Warwick Crown Court, where Jenkins pleaded guilty on 27 July to all charges.

On Friday, 12 August, Jenkins was formally sentenced to 13 years in prison. The court also ordered that he be placed on the sex offenders register for life, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the public. The sentencing marks a significant step in addressing the long-standing abuse allegations and serves as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals from predatory behavior.
