PETER HOLDEN OF PARR AND ST HELENS SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES
In a harrowing case that has sent shockwaves through the communities of Parr and St Helens, Peter Holden, a 46-year-old man, was convicted of heinous sexual crimes involving a young girl.The incident occurred shortly before the girl’s sixth birthday, marking a deeply disturbing breach of trust and safety.
Following a thorough trial at Liverpool Crown Court, Holden was found guilty of multiple charges, including the rape of the five-year-old girl, three counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity, and one count of sexual assault.
Despite his conviction, Holden continues to assert his innocence, maintaining that he did not commit the crimes for which he was found guilty.
Judge Thomas Teague, QC, delivered a stern and unequivocal judgment, describing Holden as “a dangerous paedophile” and emphasizing the serious threat he poses to children.
The judge highlighted Holden’s manipulative personality, which, when combined with his sexual attraction to very young girls, creates what he termed a “toxic combination.” Judge Teague detailed the disturbing nature of Holden’s actions, noting that there was evidence of coercion during the incident where Holden pulled the young girl upstairs, allegedly threatening her with kidnapping to manipulate her compliance.
The judge further stated that Holden had clearly planned the second incident, and likely the first, indicating premeditation rather than impulsive acts.
He expressed concern over Holden’s inability or unwillingness to confront or face his own desires, suggesting a persistent and dangerous pattern of behavior.
As a result, the court ordered Holden to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and imposed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order.
This order restricts Holden’s liberty, including bans on unsupervised contact with girls under the age of 16.
In addition to the prison sentence, Holden’s release will be subject to an extended period on licence, increased by four years to ensure public safety.
This extension reflects the court’s serious concern about the ongoing risk Holden poses to children.
Teresa Loftus, representing Holden in his defense, stated that her client continues to maintain his innocence, despite the overwhelming evidence and conviction.
