PETER GOODE FROM WORCESTER SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS FOR RAPE AND INDECENT ASSAULTS INVOLVING TEENAGER

In a case that has shocked the community of Worcester, Peter Goode, a 64-year-old man residing on Quay Street, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 16 years for his heinous crimes involving a teenage girl. The sentencing took place at Worcester Crown Court on Friday, December 21, and marks the culmination of a series of legal proceedings that uncovered the disturbing details of his offenses.

Goode was found guilty of multiple charges, including two counts of indecent assault and three counts of rape. All these charges pertain to the same victim, with the incidents spanning from 2001 to 2004. The court heard that while the indecent assaults occurred in South Wales, the more severe rape offenses took place within Worcestershire, specifically in Worcester. The case highlighted the gravity of the crimes committed against a vulnerable young girl who was only 16 years old at the time.

During the sentencing, His Honour Judge John Cavell expressed his condemnation of Goode’s actions, stating, “It is hard to find any mitigation (despite the defendant’s age of 64) as the victim was just 16 years old, was isolated, vulnerable and needed help but instead you repeatedly raped her.” The judge’s remarks underscored the severity of the offenses and the betrayal of trust involved.

Detective Constable Michelle Cook, representing the South Worcestershire Public Protection Unit, commented on the case, saying, “I am satisfied with the sentence handed down and would like to pay tribute to the victim who gave evidence during two trials at Worcester Crown Court. Her bravery helped to convict this offender and make sure he will spend a long time in prison.”

In addition to his prison sentence, Goode was subjected to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order, which prohibits him from having any unsupervised contact of any kind with females under the age of 16. This measure aims to prevent any future offenses and protect potential victims.

Goode’s criminal case was tried over two separate proceedings. The first trial, presided over by Judge Juckes, resulted in a conviction for the indecency offenses. The subsequent trial, held last month and overseen by Judge Cavell, led to his conviction on the rape charges.
