A thug who attacked a fellow passenger on a station platform has been jailed for three years.
Hamilton Sheriff Court heard that Peter Daniels had just assaulted his own girlfriend and a man went to speak to her.
Daniels shoved him to the ground and kicked his head twice, knocking him unconscious.
The court heard the victim was not known to the couple but they got chatting to him on the train after a night out from Glasgow.
During the incident, Daniels also admitted attacking his partner.
Sheriff Michael Higgins described his behaviour as "appalling" and said a significant jail sentence had to be imposed.
Daniels, 36, of Milton Street, Motherwell, admitted assaulting the victim to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement at Bellshill station on April 15, 2023.
He also admitted attacking his partner.
