LIVERPOOL MAN JAILED FOR THREATS AND ASSAULT ON PARTNER DURING BLACKPOOL TRIP
A man from Liverpool, Peter Brittles, was sentenced to 14 months in prison after threatening to kill his partner during a trip to Blackpool. The incident occurred when the couple was at Champs Sports Bar on Topping Street, where police responded to reports that a man had spat at and assaulted a woman.
When officers arrived, they found Brittles and his partner, who was crying and visibly upset on the floor.
Brittles was taken outside and detained on suspicion of assault.
During the arrest, he shouted threats at his partner, including the words "you're dead, you're dead," according to Lancs Live.
Preston Crown Court was informed that Brittles, aged 31 and residing on Warwick Road in Liverpool, had a history of previous convictions for assaulting this same woman and was under a restraining order prohibiting contact with her.
He also has four other convictions related to domestic abuse.
The victim did not provide a statement or impact report.
Judge Richard Archer remarked that the victim was likely distressed by Brittles' actions, and noted the pre-sentencing report was concerning regarding the risk Brittles poses to the public, especially women he has been in relationships with.
The judge highlighted Brittles’ pattern of minimizing or justifying his behavior and his inability to be rehabilitated, concluding that such a mindset warranted immediate custody to ensure appropriate punishment.
