MAN LAUNCHED A BRUTAL ATTACK ON HIS NEW GIRLFRIEND, FORCING HER TO RUN NAKED FROM THEIR HOTEL ROOM TO ESCAPE HIM.
A man carried out a severe assault on his new girlfriend, causing her to run out of a hotel room naked in an attempt to escape him.Perry Goodall, who had been seeing the woman for only three days, went out drinking with her in Norwich.
Later, they returned to a hotel located in the Riverside Road area.
The Crown Court heard that Goodall, who had consumed large quantities of both drugs and alcohol, began to shout at her, insulting her as a "whore." Prosecutor Samantha Lowther revealed that Goodall, who has a record of 47 convictions for 90 previous offences, started physically assaulting her, punching her, grasping her around the throat, and jabbing his thumbs into her eyes.
He also damaged the hotel room by tearing off part of the toilet and hurling it at her, hitting her on the head.
The woman escaped from the room, naked and screaming for help, which led the hotel manager to intervene.
Goodall pursued her onto the street wearing only boxer shorts.
Police were called to the scene and arrested him while he was running in the road.
The woman was found with swollen eyes, bleeding from her head and chest, and reported that her room had been vandalised.
Inside the hotel room, officers observed extensive bloodstains.
The woman, visibly upset, told officers that Goodall had been experiencing some form of psychosis at the time.
She revealed that she had known him for several years but refused to support the prosecution, stating she wished to continue their relationship.
Goodall, of Heathgate, Norwich, appeared before the court on Tuesday to be sentenced after being convicted in his absence of assault causing actual bodily harm at Norwich Magistrates' Court.
He had previously admitted to criminal damage valued under £5,000.
Judge Anthony Bate sentenced him to 18 months in prison, remarking, "You lost it completely and set about both her and the room itself doing damage to both person and property".
Michael Clare, mitigating, said the incident, on June 29 last year, was fuelled "not only by drugs but alcohol" and that Goodall had "completely lost it".
"He behaved in a way that was essentially out of character," said Mr Clare, who added Goodall, who worked as a painter and decorator, was now off drugs.
