PAUL RILEY FROM LIVERPOOL AND RUNCORN JAILED FOR HORRIFIC ANIMAL AND CHILD SEX OFFENCES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Liverpool and Runcorn, Paul Riley, a 51-year-old resident of Limekiln Row, Castlefields in Runcorn, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after being found guilty of heinous crimes involving animal abuse and indecent images of children. His son, Carl Riley, aged 23 and living on Ullet Road in Liverpool, was also convicted on multiple charges related to the possession, creation, and distribution of indecent photographs of minors, and received a three-year prison sentence. The case came to light when police uncovered a deeply disturbing video on Paul Riley’s computer. The footage depicted his wife, Sandra Wilson, attempting to engage in sexual acts with their family dog. The video also showed the dog performing an intimate act with Sandra Wilson herself. During police interviews, Paul Riley shockingly admitted that he had wanted to see such acts happen, revealing a disturbing level of depravity. Sandra Wilson, who was involved in the incident, received a police caution for her role in the offences.
Authorities also discovered that Riley’s computer contained approximately 500 extreme pornographic images. The investigation was initially launched in connection with Carl Riley, who was under scrutiny for downloading indecent images of children. Further probing revealed that Carl Riley possessed vile images of infants, which he shared with other users under aliases such as ‘SweetJake’ and ‘PeterPan111’. Police found that a Hotmail account linked to Carl Riley had uploaded photographs to an online storage service, Skydrive, where files could be kept private but were accessible to others.
During a search of the Riley family home, where Carl was residing at the time, officers seized multiple electronic devices containing evidence of his crimes. Carl Riley was arrested at his then-girlfriend’s residence on May 24, 2012. While on bail in Liverpool during the autumn of 2013, he engaged in a disturbing exchange via Blackberry Messenger, where he asked a woman, “Can I f*** you?” and boasted about a young child performing a sex act on him. He also sent an indecent image involving a very young girl and a man, although he later denied being the adult in the picture.
The woman, appalled by his messages, blocked him and reported the incident to the police. Carl Riley subsequently admitted to possessing, creating, and distributing a total of 52 indecent images of children, across categories A, B, and C. Meanwhile, Paul Riley pleaded guilty to six counts, including possession of extreme pornographic images, encouraging his wife to have sex with a dog, and possessing 57 indecent images of children. The court heard that Riley has denied responsibility for the images of minors, but Judge Rajeev Shetty made it clear that he did not believe Riley’s claims of inadvertent download, emphasizing that the defendant has a sexual interest in children.
In a statement following his arrest, Sandra Wilson claimed that “everybody was drunk” at the time and that her husband “was always asking if she would have sex with a dog,” though she maintained she had previously refused. She also stated she had no knowledge of her husband and son’s other illicit images. The police investigation revealed that videos recovered from Riley’s drives showed what appeared to be homemade footage of a woman, identified as his wife, attempting to have sex with a dog. It was suspected that Paul Riley himself was holding the camera during these recordings, further implicating him in the disturbing acts.
Judge Shetty condemned Riley’s actions, stating that he did not believe the images were downloaded accidentally and that Riley’s sexual interests extended to children. The case has left a lasting impact on the local communities, highlighting the severity of the crimes committed within the Riley family and the importance of vigilant law enforcement in tackling such heinous offences.
