PAUL THOMAS JAILED FOR HORRIFIC DOMESTIC ABUSE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT

A man named Paul Thomas, aged 49 and residing in Sidcup, Kent, has been convicted and sentenced for subjecting his partner to systematic abuse.

Over a period starting from 2017, he used his status as a bereaved single father to emotionally blackmail his victim, which escalated into physical violence, pretended happiness in their relationship, emotional coercion, and sexual assault.

Thomas threw the victim down the stairs, pulled her hair, punched her stomach, and raped her.

The victim documented his behaviour by photographing injuries and filming him as he tried to prevent her from leaving, all while he tracked her phone and threatened her and her family.

The most severe incident occurred between November 7 and 9, 2019, when Thomas visited her uninvited at her home in Penge, violently and sexually assaulted her for two days, issuing death threats and strangling her until she lost consciousness.

She managed to call the police afterward.

Thomas was later arrested and convicted of eight counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, threats to kill, actual bodily harm, and coercive controlling behaviour.

He was sentenced to 19 years in prison on September 22 at Croydon Crown Court, was ordered to be subject to Notification Requirements for life, and received a restraining order.

Detective Constable Nichola Buckley pointed out that Thomas is a highly dangerous individual who showed no remorse, and she emphasized the importance of supporting victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault.
