PENGE MAN NORMAN EWAN SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE AND PORNOGRAPHY IN GROVE PARK
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Penge and the surrounding areas, Norman Ewan, a 54-year-old former railway worker employed by Connex, was found guilty of heinous crimes involving a young girl.The incident took place in Ewan's residence on Baring Road, Grove Park, where he lured a 10-year-old girl into a situation of sexual abuse.
According to court reports, Ewan confessed to the authorities that he enticed the young girl into his bedroom, an act that has left the community reeling.
The girl’s mother recounted a harrowing account of her confrontation with Ewan, revealing that she was so enraged and distressed that she threatened him with a knife.
She described how she held a large kitchen knife to Ewan’s throat and demanded that he confess to his actions, shouting, “confess you did it.” The incident unfolded on November 11, when Ewan was alone in the front room of his house in Baring Road.
He called the girl into his bedroom, where he proceeded to show her graphic images of adults engaging in sexual acts with children, images that he had stored on his computer.
The court heard that after displaying these disturbing pictures, Ewan inappropriately touched the girl by putting his hands down her trousers.
The girl’s mother, visibly distressed, explained that she found her daughter crying in the bathroom afterward.
The young girl confided in her mother, saying, “mum, he showed me pictures and touched me.” This revelation prompted the mother to take immediate action.
In her fury and concern for her child's safety, she retrieved the largest knife she could find from her kitchen and confronted Ewan, pressing the blade against his throat and demanding he admit to his misconduct.
Following the incident, police were called to the scene.
Ewan was promptly arrested, and authorities seized his computer for forensic examination.
Investigators discovered numerous images of child pornography stored on his hard drive, further implicating him in the possession and distribution of obscene material involving minors.
At Blackfriars Crown Court, Ewan pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including sexually abusing a minor, possessing obscene images, and showing obscene images to others.
His guilty plea led to a sentencing of two and a half years in prison.
Additionally, Ewan has been placed on the sex offenders’ register, ensuring that he will be monitored and restricted from contact with minors in the future.
