PAUL SUMMERS FROM KEIGHLEY SENTENCED FOR REPEATED SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON TEENAGERS IN BRADFORD
In a case that has shocked the community of Keighley and the wider Bradford area, Paul Summers, a 45-year-old man residing on Cavendish Street, has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for a series of heinous sexual offenses involving two teenage girls.According to court proceedings held at Bradford Crown Court, Summers was found guilty of multiple counts of rape and sexual activity with a minor.
The court was informed that his first assault occurred in September 2003, when he attacked one of the young victims.
The details of this assault revealed a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior, with the victim suffering significant emotional distress.
The court heard that Summers continued his offending spree by raping a second teenage girl early in 2004, with the assaults occurring again in June of the same year.
Prosecutor Caroline Wigin provided a detailed account of the incidents, stating, "Summers attacked his first victim in September 2003.
It was painful; she was frightened, and he did it again three weeks later." The second victim confided in a neighbor after being assaulted once more, which led to her and her family reporting the matter to the police.
This intervention resulted in Summers' arrest and subsequent charges.
Summers was charged with four counts of rape and one count of sexual activity with a child.
During the court proceedings, his legal representative, Michele Colbourne, argued that Summers was confused about the concept of love and had been deceiving himself about his actions.
The judge, Geoffrey Kamil, expressed concern over Summers' mental state and his distorted thinking, which appeared to influence his criminal behavior.
Judge Kamil emphasized the gravity of Summers' actions, stating, "You helped to serve to corrupt the young girls at a very impressionable age.
There is an element of planning, and you have presented yourself as the victim." The court also made it clear that Summers would be registered as a sex offender for the remainder of his life, underscoring the severity of his crimes and the lasting impact on his victims and the community of Keighley.
