PAUL RIGBY FROM SIDCUP JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN MAIDSTONE
In a case that has spanned over a decade, a man from Sidcup has been convicted and sentenced for serious child sex offences committed in Maidstone.The individual, identified as Paul Rigby, faced allegations of abusing a young child in the county town of Maidstone, with the incidents reportedly occurring between 2008 and 2009.
Despite Rigby’s initial denial of the accusations, the evidence presented during the trial led to his conviction.
Allegations were first brought to the attention of Kent Police in 2017, prompting a thorough investigation into the matter.
During police interviews, Rigby, who resides on Frinton Road in Sidcup, maintained his innocence.
However, the investigation uncovered sufficient evidence to charge him with two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
These charges reflect the gravity of the offences and the serious concern for the safety and well-being of the victim.
Rigby, aged 45 at the time of sentencing, stood trial at Woolwich Crown Court.
Throughout the proceedings, he continued to deny the allegations, pleading not guilty.
Nevertheless, the court found him guilty based on the evidence presented.
On the day of sentencing, Rigby was handed a prison term of two years and six months.
The court also imposed a sexual harm prevention order to restrict his contact and activities, aiming to prevent any further harm.
Furthermore, Rigby was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community.
