WALLSEND MAN PAUL RIDING FACES JAIL OVER CHILD PORN AND EXTREME VIDEOS DISCOVERED IN HIS HOME
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Wallsend, North Tyneside, a local man named Paul Riding is now facing serious criminal charges after police uncovered a disturbing collection of illegal images and videos stored on his personal devices.The incident came to light during a police raid conducted at Riding’s family residence, located on Suffolk Gardens, where he lives with his wife and children.
According to court reports, the investigation was initiated after authorities obtained a warrant to search Riding’s home.
During the search, officers seized his Samsung laptop, which was later examined in detail.
The forensic analysis revealed a total of 407 illicit images and videos, some of which are classified as the most severe category involving penetration, with 21 images falling into this category.
An additional 21 images were classified as Category B, and the remaining 364 as Category C, indicating a wide spectrum of illegal content.
The police investigation uncovered that these images and videos had been downloaded over a period spanning nearly seven years, from August 13, 2011, to May 4, 2018.
Among the disturbing content found on Riding’s device were two videos labeled as extreme porn, featuring a woman and a dog, which further compounded the severity of the case.
Prosecutor Glenda Beck outlined the details during the court proceedings, stating that the illegal material was discovered after police executed a search warrant at Riding’s residence on May 3, 2018.
She emphasized that devices capable of accessing the internet were seized, and the examination of the Samsung laptop confirmed the presence of the illicit content.
During police interviews, Riding admitted to the possession of these images, claiming that he had been driven by curiosity due to a lack of a sexual relationship at home.
He described his actions as “stupid” and expressed remorse, stating that he had made a “huge mistake” and had been “very silly” to involve himself in such activities.
Riding, aged 56, pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of a child and one count of possessing extreme pornographic material.
His case was adjourned for further proceedings, and he was granted unconditional bail.
The judge presiding over the case made it clear that the severity of the offences meant that the matter could not be dealt with at the current court level.
Instead, Riding was ordered to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on August 25 for sentencing proceedings, where a pre-sentence report will be prepared to determine the appropriate punishment.
