PAUL KOFI MANU ABOAGYEWAA SENTENCED TO SIX AND A HALF YEARS FOR RAPE IN TELFORD
In a significant legal development, Paul Kofi Manu Aboagyewaa, a resident of Hadley in Telford, has been sentenced to a prison term of six and a half years after being found guilty of the serious crime of rape.The incident in question occurred in Telford in December 2021, and Aboagyewaa was formally charged with one count of rape in March of the following year.
The proceedings at Shrewsbury Crown Court culminated on Thursday, March 10, when the 58-year-old defendant entered a guilty plea to the charges brought against him.
As part of his sentencing, Aboagyewaa will also be registered on the sex offenders' register, a move intended to monitor his activities and prevent future offenses.
West Mercia Police, represented by PC Billy Barrett, publicly expressed their stance on the matter.
PC Barrett stated, "We welcome the sentence that has been handed to Aboagyewaa, and I would like to show my gratitude to everyone who came forward with information that assisted officers with the investigation." Such cooperation from the community was instrumental in bringing the case to a resolution.
He further added, "I would also like to commend and thank the victim for her bravery and cooperation during what I am sure has been a truly traumatic and harrowing ordeal for herself and her family." The case highlights the importance of community engagement and the support provided to victims of sexual assault in Telford and the broader West Mercia region.
