SWANSEA RFC CAPTAIN ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING GIRLFRIEND

Swansea rugby team captain Paul John was accused of punching his girlfriend in the face after she caught him flirting on Facebook. The incident occurred at Mr John's parents' house in Porthcawl, South Wales. The police and court heard that Mr John, aged 26, left his partner, Amy John, scarred and required to drink through a straw. Amy John, who shares his surname, testified that the attack involved Mr John blocking her path at the front door and then hitting her with his fist. She described the injuries, stating, "He stared at me, stood up, leaned over, glared and hit me with his fist. I will have the scar for the rest of my life. I can cover it with make-up but that doesn't mean it is not there." She attempted to defend herself by kicking at his groin, but she claimed she did not make contact. The court also heard that initially, Ms John told police the incident was accidental and that no action would be taken. During the trial, Ms John explained that Mr John’s actions caused her significant injury. The defense argued that Ms John had kicked Mr John in his private parts and that he merely pushed her away. The case continues, with Mr John denying a charge of unlawful wounding.
