PAUL HOOD FROM CLIFTONVILLE ESCAPES PRISON AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN CANTERBURY
In a case that has drawn significant attention, Paul Hood, a 49-year-old man from Cliftonville, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl. The incident took place in Canterbury, and Hood's actions led to a court hearing at Canterbury Crown Court where the verdict was delivered.Hood, who is also known for his performances as an Elvis Presley impersonator, was convicted by a jury after evidence was presented that confirmed his involvement in the assault. The court heard that Hood had been in custody since November, awaiting trial, and his actions prompted a strong response from the judiciary.
During the sentencing, the presiding judge expressed strong disapproval of Hood's conduct, stating, “You disgracefully abused a 15-year-old girl and fully deserve to go to prison.” Despite the gravity of the offense, the judge opted to impose a nine-month prison sentence, which was suspended for two years, meaning Hood would not serve time unless he committed further offenses within that period.
In addition to the suspended sentence, Hood was subjected to several court orders aimed at preventing future harm. He was issued a five-year sexual harm prevention order, restricting his activities and contact with minors. Furthermore, he was ordered to complete 80 sessions of the Thames Valley sexual offenders programme, a rehabilitation initiative designed to address offending behavior.
As part of the court's decision, Hood was also instructed to pay £1,200 in legal costs. The case highlights ongoing concerns about safeguarding minors and the importance of holding offenders accountable, even when sentences are suspended. Hood’s actions and subsequent court rulings serve as a reminder of the serious consequences of sexual misconduct, especially involving vulnerable young individuals.
