EX TEXT PEST SPARED JAIL
A MAN has escaped a jail sentence for sending hundreds of text messages to his former partner.Paul Emmerson was banned from contacting the woman but a court today heard how he sent her 200 texts between November and December last year.
Some were abusive and others were threatening, Chelmsford Crown Court was told.
At the time, 27-year-old Emmerson was under a court order banning him from contacting his former partner Zara Turner.
He admitted breaking the conditions of the order and asked for a similar matter to be considered when he appeared in court for sentencing.
He was jailed for six months suspended for two years and given a 150-hour unpaid work order.
Judge Rodger Hayward Smith QC also gave Emmerson a two-year supervision order and a three-month curfew from 8.30pm until 6am.
The judge told him he would be jailed if he offended again.
Lynne Shirley, mitigating, said Emmerson, of Edith Road, Clacton, had found it difficult to accept the relationship was over.
