PAUL DEMPSEY FROM BACUP ESCAPES PRISON DESPITE CHILD SEX OFFENCES
In July 2021, Paul Dempsey, a resident of Bacup, appeared before Burnley Crown Court to face serious allegations related to the exploitation and abuse of children.The proceedings revealed that Dempsey had been involved in the possession of a significant number of indecent images depicting minors, a crime that has garnered widespread concern and condemnation.
During the court session, it was disclosed that Dempsey had accumulated nearly 600 such images, with approximately 100 classified as Category A.
This classification indicates the images were among the most disturbing and depraved forms of child abuse, highlighting the severity of his actions.
The court was also informed that Dempsey, who works as a lorry driver, faced an additional charge of inciting a child into sexual activity.
However, this particular charge was ultimately dropped due to insufficient evidence from the prosecution, leaving the case focused primarily on the possession of the illicit images.
Despite the gravity of the offences, the judge opted for a relatively lenient sentence.
Dempsey was handed a three-year community order, a decision that means he will be subject to supervision and certain conditions within the community rather than serving time behind bars.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender, a measure intended to monitor his activities and prevent further harm.
